Major Traffic Diversions in Hinjawadi and Wakad This Thursday for Mhatoba Yatra

30 Mar 2026

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have announced extensive road closures and diversions across Hinjawadi, Wakad, and Sangvi for Thursday, April 2, 2026. These temporary measures are designed to manage the massive influx of 50,000 devotees expected for the traditional ‘Bagad Miravnuk’ of the Gramdaivat Mhatoba Devachi Yatra. Starting at 3:00 PM, the main procession will travel from Wakad Gavthan to Hinjawadi village, while a simultaneous ‘Gaivatra Bagad’ event will take place in Pimple Gurav. To prevent gridlock, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) has mandated that restrictions remain in place from 12:00 PM to 10:00 PM, affecting major transit points including Tata T Chowk, Wakad Naka, Geometric Circle, Shivaji Chowk, and Bhumkar Chowk.

Commuters traveling through the western corridor must utilize several alternative routes to navigate the closures. Traffic from Indian Oil Chowk to Vinode Vasti Chowk and Sayaji Underpass will be redirected through Wakad Overbridge and Wakadgaon, while those near the Mula River Bridge (Pancharatna) must use the service road to reach the Hinjawadi Highway. In the Kaspate Chowk and Mankar Chowk areas, vehicles are being diverted toward Jagtap Dairy Chowk and Kalewadi Phata. Further diversions are set for Kaspate Corner, Pink City Road, Mhatoba Chowk, and Datta Mandir Road, extending into the Sangvi Traffic Division near Pimple Gurav Kaman and Shivganesh Chowk. Local authorities urge all residents and IT professionals to plan their journeys well in advance and follow the designated paths to ensure a smooth festive period.
