Life Savings at Stake but MahaRERA Dashboard Not Updated Since January as Consumer Activists Cry Foul
Consumer activists have raised serious questions about MahaRERA's commitment to transparency after the Recovery Warrants District Wise dashboard on its official website remained frozen since January 20 despite the regulator continuing to issue fresh recovery orders throughout the six month period. While individual orders issued after that date have been uploaded the consolidated district wise tracking dashboard has not been refreshed making it practically impossible for homebuyers to monitor enforcement action and recovery status against defaulting developers. Mumbai Grahak Panchayat chairperson said homebuyers invest their life savings in properties and rely on the MahaRERA website for critical decisions adding that outdated information defeats the very purpose of transparency and that Section 34 of RERA legally obliges MahaRERA to ensure such compliance. Consumer activists said at least three written representations to the regulator seeking data updates went completely unanswered with no response received from MahaRERA despite the activists being members of the conciliation forum.
Activists demanded the dashboard disclose warrant issue dates recovery status amounts recovered balance pending and the stage of proceedings before the collector to meaningfully improve accountability for Maharashtra's homebuyer community. Watchdog Foundation trustees wrote to the revenue minister seeking urgent intervention to speed up execution of pending warrants before district collectors and tehsildars urging that warrants be treated as priority recovery proceedings completed within 90 days wherever no court restraint exists with nodal officers appointed in every collectorate. Consumer groups warned that the current system is incompatible with Maharashtra's Ease of Doing Business objectives and called for immediate dashboard updates and structural reforms to ensure homebuyers can track enforcement proceedings in real time without having to write repeated unanswered letters to a regulator that is legally obligated to provide this information.
