Union Minister Announces Rs 6000 Crore Ravet Narhe Elevated Corridor Work to Begin Soon
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister announced on Saturday that work on the 32 km Ravet to Narhe elevated corridor is expected to begin soon with the detailed project report for the Rs 6000 crore project already completed. The corridor is planned along the heavily congested Dehu Road to Katraj Bypass stretch which has seen sharply rising traffic volumes and a high number of accidents in recent years. The minister also said the Khambatki Ghat tunnel project would be completed within the next two months significantly improving connectivity between Pune and Satara. On the Rs 8000 crore Nashik Phata to Khed elevated road project he said plans are ready with only a small portion of land acquisition remaining before construction can begin.
The minister also advocated developing a New Pune in areas like Purandar to distribute urban growth and reduce mounting pressure on the existing city infrastructure. The announcements signal a major push to address some of Pune Metropolitan Region's most chronic traffic and connectivity challenges through a combination of elevated corridors tunnels and strategic urban decentralisation. Together the three projects represent a combined investment of over Rs 14000 crore in road infrastructure for the Pune region with each addressing a distinct but critical mobility gap that has long frustrated commuters freight operators and businesses dependent on these key arterial connections in and around one of India's fastest growing cities.
