PMC Finally Lists 12 Missing Link Roads to Be Completed in One Year as Commuters Wait for Long Overdue Relief

25 Jul 2026

Pune Municipal Corporation PMC has announced plans to complete 12 critical missing road links within a year in a renewed push to address long standing connectivity gaps across the old city and newly merged villages that have forced commuters onto lengthy daily detours. PMC commissioner confirmed the administration has finalised the stretches and is focused on fast tracking completion in the coming months. The 12 priority roads include the Baner Pashan Link Road Nagras Road in Aundh to Balewadi Stadium via Jupiter Hospital the Navale Bridge to Wakad service road Ganraj Chowk to Kaspate Vasti Rajaram Bridge to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk Hume Pipe to Prayeja City Road Lokmat Press to Savitri Garden Gunjan Chowk to Kalyaninagar Kalyaninagar to Kharadi Mundhwa ROB to Keshavnagar and ABC Chowk to Gadigutta Chowk among others.

PMC has partnered with private developers to advance pending road works with developers receiving credit notes in exchange for completing road projects and 18 such projects currently in progress. However land acquisition remains a key challenge as many landowners are demanding cash compensation rather than accepting the credit note model forcing PMC to approach the state government for Rs 517 crore to expedite the works. The initiative began with a survey in August 2022 making the years long gap between identification and execution a source of frustration for residents particularly in areas like Kothrud where commuters say traffic congestion could be significantly reduced if even a few short vital stretches were completed at the earliest.
