Minister Chairs High Level PMC Review and Orders Action on Traffic Potholes Encroachments and Waste Management
Minister of State for Urban Development Transport Social Justice Medical Education Minority Development and Waqf chaired a high level review meeting with PMC officials on Friday directing them to expedite key infrastructure projects and immediately address long pending issues related to traffic congestion potholes encroachments road restoration and waste management across Pune. The minister directed officials to remove metro construction debris left on roads and restore damaged stretches at the earliest to minimise commuter inconvenience. She also instructed the PMC anti encroachment department to take strict action against unauthorised street vendors causing traffic congestion and reviewed the proposed rent increase for Mandai market shops and allotment of commercial units developed under the Pune Metro project. Cluster redevelopment projects at Ekta Nagar Nimbs Nagar and Vitthalwadi were also reviewed with the minister directing departments to resolve bottlenecks and speed up implementation without further delay.
Waste management figured prominently in the discussions with the minister asking PMC officials to strengthen waste segregation and streamline collection and processing to provide a cleaner environment for citizens. She further directed officials to expedite land acquisition for road projects in the Sinhagad Road area so that long pending infrastructure work can move forward immediately. The meeting was attended by MLAs deputy mayor standing committee chairman municipal commissioner additional municipal commissioner Pune Metro project manager and senior officials from multiple PMC departments. The minister emphasised that roads repairs traffic management encroachment removal waste management and infrastructure projects must be taken up on priority with all departments working in close coordination to ensure timely implementation for the benefit of Pune's citizens.
