Rs 23 Crore Mula Mutha River Bridge Almost Ready as Kharadi Keshavnagar Corridor Eyes August 15 Launch
The Kharadi-Keshavnagar bridge built across the Mula Mutha river under a public private partnership model at a cost of Rs 23.20 crore is set to open for traffic by August 15 with main construction work already completed and signals and traffic infrastructure set up on the Kharadi side. Standing Committee Chairman confirmed the bridge will open as soon as a 700 metre connecting road stretch from Renuka Mata Temple area in Keshavnagar to Godrej is completed with work on that section currently underway. The 246.40 metre long and 24 metre wide bridge also features separate one metre service roads on both sides and two metre wide footpaths. PMC had decided to build the bridge three years ago to address crippling daily traffic congestion across the densely populated areas of Kharadi, Mundhwa, Keshavnagar, Magarpatta, Hadapsar, Wagholi, and Vadgaon Sheri where residents currently have very few river crossing options on the Mula Mutha forcing everyone onto the same overloaded bridges and causing massive daily bottlenecks. The road department executed the project on a PPP basis over the past two years with the structure now in its final stages. Once the 700 metre approach road is completed and the bridge officially opens on August 15 it will create a vital new crossing point over the Mula Mutha giving residents of these packed east Pune neighbourhoods a faster more direct route and ending the long frustrating detours that have tested the patience of lakhs of daily commuters for years.
