The road to Pune’s new international airport has officially opened. The District Collector announced on Tuesday that the land acquisition for the Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje International Airport in Purandar will commence this Thursday. The state government has set a lucrative base compensation of ₹1.61 crore per acre, which is expected to reach an average of ₹2 crore per acre once assets like houses, trees, and wells are factored in.
Nearly 6,500 landowners across seven villages including Pargaon, Khanvadi, and Munjavadi stand to benefit from the ₹6,000 crore fund raised via HUDCO. Beyond the cash payout, consenting owners will receive 10% developed land in the vicinity and priority for employment opportunities. The administration aims to secure at least 50% of the 1,217 hectares by June 10, targeting a construction start date in October or November 2026, with a strict three-year completion deadline.
