The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a new citywide pothole-free road initiative to repair damaged stretches across Pune. The campaign began from Sarasbaug, where officials carried out repair work on a road heavily affected by potholes. The initiative includes the deployment of 15 dedicated teams under PMC’s road department and local ward offices to ensure smoother roads for daily commuters.
According to civic officials, the first phase will focus on roads that were recently dug up for CCTV network cable laying and other utility work. Commuters, however, remain cautious, pointing out that such drives in the past have been short-lived. They demand transparency and accountability through daily updates on progress and road quality. The PMC has issued a new standard operating procedure (SOP) for repairing potholes, levelling chambers, and maintaining road quality to ensure sustainable results.
