PMC Floats Rs 164 Crore Tender for NDA Chandni Chowk to Bhugaon Road Project With Flyover Bridge and Underpass

10 Aug 2026

Pune Municipal Corporation PMC has floated a Rs 164 crore tender for a major road infrastructure project between NDA Chandni Chowk and Bhugaon after completing around 80 percent of the land acquisition required for the 2.2 km stretch. The project includes a 60 metre wide flyover, a 70 metre long bridge over the Ram River, a 430 metre long underpass near PVPIIT College junction and service roads on either side of the flyover. The road is a critical link for traffic moving from Mulshi toward the Konkan region and for vehicles heading to the Pirangut industrial area Bhugaon Bhukum and surrounding villages. Deputy engineer of PMC road department confirmed that sufficient land is available to begin work immediately and that the tender process was completed within one month signalling swift progress on the long awaited project.

The Chandni Chowk to Bhugaon corridor has long been plagued by severe traffic congestion with commuters expressing frustration over the daily gridlock on this busy route. The population of Bhugaon Bhukum and adjoining areas is expected to reach nearly three lakh in the coming years making the infrastructure upgrade not just timely but essential for future urban growth. Regular commuters on the stretch welcomed the tender floatation expressing hope that the proposed flyover and underpass would finally bring meaningful and lasting relief to the thousands of daily travellers who depend on this key arterial road connecting western Pune with Mulshi Pirangut and the broader Konkan bound traffic network.
