Transfer Bhosari MIDC Infrastructure to MIDC from PCMC, Industries Forum Writes to CM and Industries Minister
The Forum of Small Scale Industries Association has alleged that PCMC has consistently failed to provide basic infrastructure including roads, streetlights, drainage, stormwater management, waste collection and sanitation in Bhosari and other industrial areas of Pimpri Chinchwad MIDC despite industries paying substantial property tax and other levies to the civic body for years. The association president has written to the Chief Minister and Industries Minister urging that the entire responsibility for basic infrastructure in industrial areas be transferred from PCMC to MIDC, citing poor road conditions, non-functional streetlights, clogged drains, monsoon waterlogging and irregular garbage collection as persistent problems affecting production, worker safety and industrial competitiveness. Adding to the frustration, PCMC had established a dedicated Industry Cell following repeated demands from the association but regular meetings of the cell have reportedly not been held for the past one to one and a half years, with entrepreneurs describing the dormant cell as a reflection of the administration's complete neglect of the industrial sector.
At present, entrepreneurs are bounced between PCMC and MIDC depending on the nature of their complaints, resulting in unclear accountability and indefinite delays in resolving even basic issues. The association has demanded that MIDC be designated as the single authority responsible for all infrastructure in industrial areas and has sought an urgent joint meeting of senior officials from MIDC, the Industries Department and PCMC to fix clear responsibility and take a permanent policy decision. A separate action plan for roads, streetlights, drainage, waste management and stormwater disposal has also been sought along with resumption of regular Industry Cell meetings. The association warned that if infrastructure problems persist, more companies could consider relocating to other industrial areas, threatening employment and the local economy of one of Maharashtra's most significant industrial corridors.
