CMRS Clears 17 of 23 Stations on Hinjawadi-Chh. Shivajinagar Metro, Passenger Services Ready in 10-12 Days
The Commissioner of Metro Railway Safety CMRS cleared an additional five stations on the Hinjawadi-Chh. Shivajinagar Metro Line 3 on September 23 taking the total approved stations to 17 of the corridor's 23 stations, with the PMRDA metropolitan commissioner confirming that passenger services could begin within 10 to 12 days after completion of technical requirements suggested by the safety regulator. The first 12 stations had received provisional authorisation earlier and with the latest five station clearance covering the 23 km corridor, PMRDA said the administration is ready to start services across 17 stations with the final inauguration decision to be taken at the senior level. PMRDA has also taken up a Rs 426 crore last-mile connectivity project for Hinjawadi Metro passengers with costs to be shared equally between PMRDA and MIDC. In other announcements, PMRDA said it will set up a dedicated anti-encroachment squad equipped with modern machinery having already removed 153 unauthorised hoardings and 919 unauthorised structures since January 2026, and will introduce authorised paid parking in Moshi sectors 11 and 12.
On infrastructure fronts, PMRDA is progressing on seven roads under its Chakan decongestion plan expected to be completed by November-December while land acquisition for four more roads is underway and proposals for the western bypass and Mahalunge area roads have been sent to the district collector. PMRDA has also set a target to complete around 6,500 affordable homes in Moshi sector 12 by December 2026 with plans to develop affordable housing in every taluka around future growth hubs under PMAY 2. Under river improvement projects, 95 drains will be diverted under the Indrayani River project and 15 under the Pavana River project with tenders under technical evaluation and work orders to be issued after the model code of conduct ends. For Hinjawadi's lakhs of IT professionals and daily commuters who have watched deadline after deadline pass without the Metro opening, the 17-station CMRS clearance and a 10-12 day technical completion timeline finally represents a credible and imminent launch date.
