The Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) is set to develop India’s largest exhibition and convention center, the Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre (PIECC), spanning 246 acres in Moshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad. Designed to meet global standards, the facility will cater to the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) industry and feature a 1,05,000 sqm covered exhibition area, a 98,000 sqm open space, a 5,000-seater convention hall, a five-star hotel, and commercial and recreational zones. Developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, PMRDA has invited Expressions of Interest (EOI) from domestic and international firms, with a submission deadline of February 16, 2025. Currently, ₹150 crore has been invested in infrastructure, including an 8-kilometer road network, open exhibition grounds, parking, and essential amenities.
Since 2022, the venue’s open exhibition space has hosted 25 events, including the annual farmer’s exhibition, which draws nearly four lakh visitors. The demand for permanent covered spaces highlights the need for further development of the facility. Selected private developers will finance, construct, operate, and maintain the facility, recovering investments through user revenues. PMRDA’s initiative is expected to enhance regional trade, support local businesses, create employment opportunities, and position Pune as a global hub for exhibitions and conventions.
